TURKISH NURSES ASSOCIATION 2021-2024 Strategic Plan
Objective 1: To develop the nursing profession
Strategic Objectives
1.1. To promote empowerment in nursing, cooperation will be established and maintained with national nursing schools and nursing service managers (meetings such as workshops and joint press releases, etc.).
1.2. To empower nursing, it will be ensured that at least 50% of the specialty societies become THD members.

1.3. Cooperation with national and international institutions and organizations (WHO, ICN, Ministry of Health, Ministry of National Education, YÖK, International Nursing Associations, etc.) will be increased to contribute to the development of the nursing profession.
1.4. At least three national or international scientific meetings (congresses, trainings, workshops, etc.) will be organized until 2024, taking into account professional/social needs and priorities.
1.5. At least 20 scientific meetings and/or projects organized by other institutions and organizations will be supported each year.
1.6. At least one national or international project will be developed and carried out until 2024, taking into account professional/social needs and priorities.
1.7. By 2024, THD Journal will be included in the TR index.
1.8. THD commissions will be reviewed every three years in terms of their currency and functionality and will be organized when necessary.
1.9. Promotion, membership and donation activities will be emphasized for the continuity of the financial processes of the Turkish Nurses Association.
1.10. At least two social activities will be carried out to make society aware of the different roles of nurses.
1.11. Initiatives will be taken to ensure that nursing services are managed by nurse managers.
1.12. Negotiations and studies will be carried out with the relevant parties for the legal legislation on specialized nursing.
1.13. Initiatives will be taken to identify and define the areas where the job descriptions of nurses are not clear in health practices including new generation technologies.
1.14. The “Frequently Asked Questions” section on the Association's website will be promoted to popularize the use of the subsection containing answers to legal issues.
1.15. A legal and action struggle will be carried out to ensure the implementation of the legislation on the practice of the nursing profession in the field.
1.16. Legal and legal action will be taken to ensure the protection of nurses' labor and dignity.
1.17. Struggle, including legislative change, will be carried out to ensure the effective implementation of certification programs.
1.18. An attempt will be made to address the problems of out-of-field administrators and lecturers in nursing education.
1.19. Attempts will be made to include professional organization in the courses and trainings in the National Core Program of Nursing by meeting with the Council of Higher Education and the relevant deans' councils.
1.20. Initiatives will be taken to standardize the number of patients per nurse for all inpatient clinics.
Objective 2: To represent nursing at national and international level
Strategic Objectives
2.1. Professional account approvals such as blue tick on social media platforms will be realized until 2024 to promote the association.
2.2. A meeting of branches will be held at least once a year.
2.3. By 2024, meetings will be held with at least five institutions in the headquarters and branch cities of the association for the promotion and activities of the association.
2.4. At least one promotional meeting and at least one scientific and/or social activity will be organized by the student commission of the association every year.
2.5. By 2024, the English web page of the Association will be structured.
2.6. Every year, cooperation with other health professional organizations on issues concerning public health, health professions, etc. will be established and maintained.
2.7. By 2024, the association will have at least one branch or representative in each province.
2.8. The May 12 Nursing Week event will be organized by the THD Headquarters in cooperation with local and national institutions and organizations. Participation and/or speaker support will be provided at the level of THD Headquarters to the branches, representative offices, institutions and organizations that request it.
2.9. At the end of each year, a report on the activities of the association will be published on the association's website and social media.
Objective 3: To have a voice in the formulation of policies and to monitor policies
Strategic Objectives
3.1. Cooperation will be established and maintained with policy makers and decision makers for the development of the nursing profession and the solution of its problems.
3.2. The nursing profession will take an active role in the development of policies (health, education, social and economic) aimed at improving and maintaining public health. A written report containing the views of THD will be submitted to decision makers and policy makers twice a year.
3.3. Legislation related to public health and the nursing profession will be closely monitored, opinions will be expressed on current legislation, and legal action will be taken when necessary.
3.4. Efforts will be made to update the unworkable sections of nursing and related legislation.
3.5. Nurses will take initiatives to improve their working environment and conditions and to ensure safe working environments (personal rights, violence, etc.). Initiatives, meetings and press releases will be organized twice a year (more if needed) to create an agenda for current problems.
3.6. By 2024, initiatives will be taken to transfer the evidence on the contribution of nursing to patient safety to practice (publishing guidelines, evidence-based practices on the association's website, etc.).
3.7. Public opinion studies will be conducted on the necessity of nurse managers and deputies in high-level bureaucracy and parliament.
3.8. Efforts will be made to establish and improve press and media contacts at national and local level.
